One Fun Little Girl

I didn't plan it this way, but I am catching up on this blog on the day that Mia turns 16 mos old. Wow! She's so old :) She has changed so much since she turned one year back in November. It's hard to always see it since I am with her everyday, but she really is turning into a fun little girl. Of course, the biggest change is walking. She took a few steps right after she turned 12 mos. Then she gradually worked up to walking across a room by Christmas. However, she didn't start walking everywhere until about 14 mos. And she is full speed ahead these days! Talking is another new development. At 12 mos, she could say about 3-4 words (Mama, Dada, Bye Bye, Uh-oh). She added a few more after her birthday, but the biggest growth occurred around 15 mos. Mia has gone from jabbering on in gibberish all day to purposeful grunts and expressions that communicate her desires. Here's a few things you might hear her say each day:
- Ball (which she loves to kick)
- Bird (she says it when she hears them singing outside)
- Bath (loves her baths from Dada)
- Baby (she has several she carries around)
- Shoes & Cheese (these sound very similar when she says them!)
- Night-Night (sounds like "Ni Ni")
- And my favorite "I do dat". I think she is saying something along the lines of "I do that". She uses it to indicate that she wants to do something, wants more of something (like food) or wants to take something from you (like my cell phone). We are calling it her first sentence although, I'm really not sure what she's saying! We are working on our "manners" too, so she will occassionally say "peas" (please), but only after I tell her to :)

Our days fly by with walks outside, trips to the grocery store, playing at the park in our neighborhood, Storytime at the library, playgroup with her friends, coloring with her crayons, pushing her babies in her little stroller, hiding in her cabinet in the kitchen and pretending to talk on the phone. And ANYTHING can be a phone to her: a tv remote, measuring cup, wooden block, her shoe - you name it, she's held it up to her ear and said "HEY!". It's hilarious. The funny thing is, I have never considered myself a big phone talker, but apparently I have made an impression.. Here's some pics from the past few months. Ni-Ni!

A fairly recent picture from when the weather was beautiful outside!

Eating her Southwest Chicken Soup - her new fav!

She likes to imitate whatever I do. Guess I make a lot of lists...
#1 on my list should be pick up the family room - good grief!

Pushing her stroller

I bought some water colors on a whim. We have only done this once since she is only interested in painting for about 10 seconds. And I made most of the marks on her paper!

Her awesome kitchen from the Griffins - Thank you!!!

Reading her magazine.
